This is Cameron on the first 3 DAYS of swim lessons.
Actually, this was more like the 3rd day. On day one I forced him in the water with the teacher and he cried the entire 30 minutes. He sat out of the water the next day right next to me. He cried those days and I didn't know what to do. I even went to talk to the head lifeguard and ask about refunds. I'm usually not like this (quick to quit) but I was not going to put him or myself for that matter, through this for two weeks. The head guy suggested giving it 1-2 more days...
so I did.
This was the next day (with his shirt on)! YEAH!

By the second week he was sneaking into the water and swimming back to the steps by himself when the instructors weren't looking. They were supposed to be sitting on the steps, but I guess he thought he'd entertain the other kids. He kept saying 'watch this!' The girls are observing his skills.

This instructors' name is Amber. She really made the difference with Cameron. She was awesome and so patient with him.

He liked jumping in the water, but like his daddy he needs to plug his nose. So, jumping in holding the instructors' hands got some water up the nose.

All in all I was pleased with our experience with swim lessons. I actually learned one thing. I knew Colin and Cameron have different personalities, but what I learned is, that when Colin is trying something new he does better when I'm out of the picture. 'Out of sight out of mind' type of thing. He calms down after a bit when I leave him in these situations. Cameron on the other hand literally cried the whole 30 minutes with the instructors those first three days. Luckily he started to improve in the water when I was right on the side of the pool with him. The instructors don't like parents to be next to the pool, but they understood and let me stay close.
