School has begun...

Colin started school on Wednesday, Aug. 9. 1st Grade! He was very excited. The first three days went well and although he said they just did boring stuff today, I know he's enjoying the whole atmosphere. He'll probably start riding the bus home this coming Monday. He'll get dropped off at the gate we use to come into our complex. Very convenient for me! Here's a picture of him on the first day. He enjoys daddy taking him to school every morning. It's been a rough adjustment for me to get up at 6:30 again, but after a morning bike ride with Cameron each day, I've been able to catch a little cat nap.

Colin also got a new lunchbox...a batman one! When I buy Colin new things, I try not to always get Cameron new things, too. But I couldn't turn down a superman lunchbox for those special occasions like an outing to the park, a day at grandmas or having lunch with Colin. So, here he is arranging his snacks in his lunchbox before heading to grandmas a few days ago. Also pictured is a spiderman Thermos water bottle for Colin. I love how schools these days allow kids to have a water bottle handy. I was able to convince Cameron that he didn't need one of those right now, but maybe when he starts school. Those suckers were kind of expensive, but they've proven to be worth the money already. The water stays cold all day; the ice cubes don't even melt all the way.

And a side note: see the Raid in the background...I strongly dislike apartments because the ants never seem to go away. I assume it's like that with a home too, so we'll see eventually. Don't worry I don't prepare my food by the raid! Actually I usually put it away...not this day.

Oh, and potty training is going well. Although he has developed some fear of going poo on the toilet. It's quite the struggle, but we're managing. Yesterday I started letting him 'shoot' fruit loops to make it more exciting, and it helped! At least now he isn't holding it for hours on end.

Hhhhaaaaaaahahaha. Fruit loops. That is a good one! I have never tried. I have seen those expensive little foam discs you can buy to throw in the toilet for target practice... but to me it's just like money down the drain. Fruit loops is a great idea... and fun too!

Hey! How exciting that Colin is in 1st grade. I love the fruit loops, I think all my brothers got to shoot the cheerio when they were learning too. I can't wait to see you, less than 2 weeks, yea!
Love ya

Fruit Loops was the next best thing next to Cherios...since we had them in stock! I just keep a sandwich bag full of them on the bathroom counter and throw a few in each time. At least he gets excited still!
