We have two new additions to our household. The boys have been wanting a pet for a while now. Chris and I aren't big animal fans, unless we were to have an acre of land. Then a dog could stay outside all the time. Cats are out of the question because Chris and I are highly allergic to them. So, to teach the boys a little responsibility we decided to start with fish! Saturday we went and bought some cheap goldfish. Colin named his Power Ranger and Cameron named his Nemo (every fish he sees is a Nemo fish). They are enjoying watching them and feeding them twice a day. Going into the pet store for 20 minutes just about made me vomit, too. I can't stand the smell of animals, esp. when they're all in one place like that. When and if I ever break down and get a real pet I might have to rethink my mental state!

We were worried about Nemo the first day we got him, but I think Cameron was just scaring him by tapping on the bowl a little too hard! The boys know though, that they could die at any time.

I'll bet your boys were ecstatic! That's a good idea to start with fish. Janelle keeps telling us we need a dog (yeah, right, we'll probably never have a dog). Like you, I am not an animal lover. I hope the fish lead long happy lives for your kid's sakes!
