Special Prayers...

I wanted to ask all my friends and family for their prayers on behalf of a young man in our congregation at church. He is a junior at Plano East Sr. High and on the wrestling team. Ammon was at a tournament Friday night and was brought down on his head. The details are provided by his mother...
'He did not lose consciousness but did lose feeling in his lower body. When Ammon first entered the ER he could feel nothing from his chest down. By Saturday morning he could raise his right arm and move his right hand. He could move his left hand slightly. He could not move his fingers. He could feel someone touch his feet but he could not move his legs or feet. Ammon had an MRI and CT scan immediately after passing through the ER. The injury occurred at C5 and C6 of his backbone. This is in the neck area. C5 was jumped forward on C6. The bones were not broken. This misalignment put pressure on the spinal cord. Ammon was given a large dose of steroids while in the ER to help minimize swelling. Once in the ICU he was put in traction. The goal was to pull the head up so the vertebrae could go back into alignment. By Saturday evening the alignment was coming into place but not fully at 100%. Currently Ammon is in ICU. He is immobilized in a roto bed. This bed continually rocks from side to side to keep pressure off of Ammon’s spine and to prevent other complications that would occur from lying in bed in one position. He will have surgery to put a metal plate in the front of his vertebrae to permanently hold them in place this week.'
He is in the hands of the Lord. His family is a wonderful family and asks for faith and prayers in his behalf. Chris is a leader of one of his brothers and we taught another in primary last year. Ammons older sister has babysat for us and I spent time with her at girls camp. I can't say enough about this family. Ammon is a great kid and is already preparing to serve a mission. Please say a prayer for Ammon and his family.
