Wacko Week

During pregnancy we always have our clumsy and absentminded moments. And this week has brought enough drama to my pregnant self than in my whole pregnancy. Tuesday on the way to my dr.'s appt. I dropped Cameron off at my moms. At least that was the plan. I pulled up to her house and left the car running AND locked Cameron in the car. The saga lasted about an hour after I came back to my house in moms van, and had to have the office people open my garage for me to get the extra explorer key. I did make it to my appt. and Cameron was fine. Mom and I kept trying to talk to him through the window and he just ignored us. It was quite funny...he wouldn't even look at us crazy ladies!
Then today the explorer was in the shop getting the lumbar support fixed and I assumed it wouldn't be done by the time Colin got out of school. So I called the school office this morning to have them send a note to him-instructing him to ride the bus home. So, Cameron and I walked to the bus stop at 3:00. Guess what...NO COLIN! I rushed back home and jumped in the car (which I ended up getting back) and headed to school. On the way I called a friend and asked if she'd noticed Colin waiting in the car pool line. Yes she had. So, I run into the school and they found him with his teacher, who told me that she hadn't received the note from the office. I was pretty ticked and tried desperately to keep my tears back in front of Colin. He was ok and didn't seem too shaken up. I am extremely frustrated with what happened. If it was a fourth or fifth grader I wouldn't have been so upset, but a first grader- my goodness he probably thought I forgot about him.
On a lighter note Chris brought home some cake from work today because they'd celebrated a co-workers birthday. Cameron got tired of waiting for us to serve him some and I looked over and he was helping himself. Too cute!

Wow, what a week! If it makes you feel better, that stuff happens to people who don't have "pregnant brain" too. My mom locked Jeni's kids in the car earlier this year. Ryley was oblivious, kind of like Cameron, but Maddie was old enough to tell that we were concerned and so she freaked out. We were trying to explain to her how to unlock the door through the window while she was still strapped into her carseat. It made her cry even more that she couldn't figure out what we wanted her to do(she's such a pleaser). She was telling us her mommy always tells her NOT to unlock the door (while they're driving) so she didn't want to disobey her mom either! It was kind of funny after the fact, and she did eventually unlock the door for us before we had to go get another key!

Stories like that are fun to look back at and laugh at, especailly since it all turned out okay! I would be really ticked at the school too!!

I guess I need to realize teachers have phones in the classroom now and I will just call direct next time. Forget how it "used" to be when I was in elementary school and the office was real dependable!!!

Mindy,
My kids have locked me out of the house before, but never the car. That is one of my worst fears. It's fun to laugh about it now though... and the age old question lingers... what happens to our brains when we get pregnant? I think mine never fully returned.

I just had to mention this...
We were watching some tv show that did a story on hormones and part of it was about pregnancy. They said your brain actually shrinks about 8% during pregnancy and doesn't return to its normal size until about 6 months after you give birth! No wonder we do (or sometimes forget to do) the things we do!

Ugh! that does not sound fun. Hopefully you won't have to deal with all of that again!
