Fall Break

Colin was out of school this week and it actually went very well. I was a little concerned with my low energy that the boys would just get so bored. But we did a little each day and they also played together so well. I know Cameron misses big brother when he's in school.
We have started a new incentive program for the boys and it's working great so far. When they do certain jobs, read a book, take out the trash, etc. they earn a (cardstock) kindness coin. Each coin is then worth 15 minutes of tv or computer time. It works great with Colin because he can tell time and knows when time is up. Chris and I are very happy with the results so far. This way the boys are in control of how they want to spend their 'coins' and it gets them to do things around the house with immediate rewards/positive consequences. Of course there are negative consequences, but we try not to focus on those.
Colin also lost his First Tooth this week! He was pretty excited and had to drive to both grandmas the next day to show them the missing tooth spot! The tooth fairy came and left him a few quarters, and he noticed another tooth right next to the one he lost, is loose. He thought this day would never come.

What a great idea! I think I'll try that with Janelle. She just barely has gotten into playhousedisney.com and nickjr.com and wants to play it all the time now. Thanks for sharing! Congrats Colin on the lost tooth! Could you give Janelle some pointers on losing teeth?

Sorry, no pointers! It happens when it happens, usually earlier for girls than boys!

That is a great idea - I'm making lots of mental notes for when Ben gets older! You're the right person to learn from with all your boys. Congrats to Colin too!

you're such a great mom. Maybe I'll let you have Rylei for a few years and I'll take her back when she's 18. sounds like a deal to me!!!

That is a great idea! I'll have to remember that when I need it.
