Have you had a McTeacher Night lately?
It's a great fundraising idea that the boys school takes part in. For 4 hours in the evening tonight the teachers took shifts working at McDonalds and of course a percentage of sales go to the PTA. Our elementary school has about 6-700 kids and you can imagine how crazy it was inside. It was fun to see the boys interact with their friends and teachers in a more relaxed setting.

And this is Colins' darling, sweet teacher. This is her first year teaching out of college and Chris and I are very impressed thus far. After his rough day a week ago she even wrote him a note on Monday that was really heartfelt.

and we can't forget precious Austin. Actually, Austin is my first boy that has hit the terrible two's around age 2. The others had more of the terrible 3's. I'm a bit nervous to see what's in store the next couple of years. His fits are getting louder and more high pitched. He is constantly saying 'no' to me. Of course why wouldn't he when that's all his brothers' say! But, for the most part he is very sweet when it's just me and him.
He started going down the toddler slide like this. He's just mixing things up!
I was thinking tonight at how much teachers offer to their students in and out of school. There are so many activities before/after school (conferences, music programs, weekend carnivals, health fair nights, McTeacher night, pta meetings, open house, etc, etc) that require their presence away from home. Someday I'd like to go back to school, and Chris suggested being a teacher for all great reasons. Benefits, hours...but what he doesn't realize is that I'd have to go in early, stay later, and my own kids might just be living at the school. As I was talking to Colins' teacher tonight she was like, yeah I wish we could get paid hourly for all the overtime we put in!!! I understand there are plenty of teachers that make this work, but I don't think it's something I want to do while my kids are living at home and are involved in their own activities. I could handle substituting!
So, KUDOS to all teachers...they really are underpaid for all they do.

What a fun night! We just went to our first PTO thing this week too...
Hey Mindy! Your boys are so cute! I had so much fun hanging out with you in Texas! Ashley's lucky to have you as a friend! Keep in touch. Next time I'm in Texas we need to see a better movie!!!!
I have never heard of teachers doing that. They're pretty awesome. Too bad they don't get paid more.
What a great idea. That must have been pretty cool for the kids to order food from their teachers. :)
