No more plug

I was inspired by a fellow blogger to try and get Austin off of his pacifier. So, Monday was a relaxing day and I decided to have Austin throw his binkis' away. We only had two in the house and they were under his pillow. We went to get them and of course he put one in his mouth and held the other. I walked him to the trash can and he happily threw the first one in. I kept telling him he was a big boy and he didn't need it anymore. I helped him throw the other one in and he was a little bit sad. He wanted to get it out of the trash. I decided to have him help me take the bag to the outside trash. He wasn't upset until he couldn't see it anymore. Then I let him look at the pictures of the binki and it calmed him down for a bit. Naptime and bedtime that day wasn't half bad. He only cried for a minute and then was fine. It wasn't an all out stubborn 'I am never going to stop crying' fit that we'd gone through with Colin when we took his away at age 3 1/2. It might be worse if he didn't have 'Mr. Bear' to snuggle with, but Chris and I are grateful it went so smoothly!
before our blue one gets thrown out!
looking at them wondering what he has done

a bit sad...only lasted a few minutes

Awwwww he is so sad!!! You are brave...I don't think I could have done that if he looked at me like that! Good for you!

Way to go Austin--and way to go Mindy and Chris!! How old is he now? I have to admit that it was hard for me to have Elli get rid of it because everything was just so easy when she had it. However, when she started being more difficult, even with it--we said bye bye binki.

Ohhh! I do agree with Rhonda that you are brave! I think it broke my heart more taking Darren's away then it did him. Even writing my post about it made me cry! I just felt like I was taking away a good friend; a sense of security.

Way to go Austin on the smoother-than-Darren transition!

My he's getting big! He's already changed so much! We miss you guys.

Whenever just Courtney and I pass your old apartments, Courtney always says, "I miss Cameron and Mindy. I wish they didn't have to move." I remind her that now you are in your own house so it's good for you guys to have moved. But she still says it!

Such a sad day. I remember throwing away Josh's bink. It was hard, but I wasn't sorry. Bye-bye binkie!
