Contacts

Colin tried contacts for the first time last weekend. Chris took him up to work and put some in his eyes before his basketball game. You could tell they were a little bothersome, but he did great with them in. Then he wore them for most of Sunday. I think it's cool that you can get them in so young. I got my first pair in 6th grade. He won't be able to wear them to school until he can put them in by himself. That might be a while.
Here he is sporting no glasses at his game!
Cameron has loved trains for years. Now Austin is obsessed with them. He finds the bin that houses all the tracks/trains and is always wanting to have a track built. We love the battery opperated Thomas the Tank Engine trains that fit on the IKEA wooden tracks. After we turn the train on Austin can now put it on the track and loves to watch it go 'round and around. The other day each boy had a track of his own and they played for quite a while.

Mindy, Josh is getting glasses this next week and I'm getting nervous about him being in them... I know that after a day of wear he is going to want to take them off. How young was Colin when he got them?? Did he have trouble wanting to keep them on? The Dr told me that Josh is farsighted and tried explaining it to me, though it was a bit confusing! I think Colin looks so cute in his glasses!

Emily, Colin is actually farsighted, too. He got glasses on his 5th birthday! I was more worried about him getting made fun of, but it was quite the opposite. All his friends wanted a pair of glasses, too. Whew...what a relief. He knew that his preschool work would improve and all close up reading would be easier with them so we have never had a problem with him NOT wanting to wear them. We didn't even know he needed them until he happened to get an exam from daddy at optometry school. Then we saw a huge difference with even his coloring. He actually could see the lines on the paper to try and stay inside of them. Before we thought it was just because he was a boy and didn't want to take the time to color. He actually couldn't really focus on the paper in front of his face. Playing sports or riding a bike was much easier because he didn't have to focus so close. Hopefully that helps. I'm the opposite of Colin where I can't see a thing two feet away from me without my contacts/glasses. Good luck!

I'm glad you posted the types of tracks and trains your boys like. Both Elle and Wil love trains to. For X-mas we got them both a race care set to share, they don't play with it a ton, but whenever there are trains and tracks at a friends home that's all they love to play with. Wil's B-day is coming in a couple of months so I think I'm going to hit up IKEA and see what that's all about. Thanks for you thoughts and prayers in Chad's families behalf! We'll continue to keep everyone posted! Love you guys!
