Another project

We bought this table when we first got married from a lady at church for about $40.
BEFORE:

Yes, I love using power tools! When we get a house I'll have to try to beat Chris to mowing the lawn.
Above is a belt sander and it's very powerful. I sanded the whole top with the leaf on a Saturday and the next 5 days my thighs, quads and bum were extremely sore! Good workout!

I am pretty bummed that I had to pass up the black 9 pc. table set for $800 at Sams Club that I just absolutely love. (Not really) But I think I got a deal by just painting my table for the cost of supplies. I only sanded the top, but I primed everything with two coats. Then I put two coats of black paint, and THEN did a two coats of finish. I might still put a different finish on it, but I need to go and talk to someone at Lowes about the best natural look that isn't so shiny and slick. It took about two weeks and I still have one more coat of paint to do on a chair and then I'll be completely done.

AFTER:

A word of advice, though- If you're going to paint a table don't use a sponge roller to do the job. I found out the hard way that it will not be smooth at all. At first I thought I could deal with it until I upgraded to a larger table in about a year, but I ended up priming it again and repainting it with a sponge brush. Turned out much better. Going without a table for two weeks was interesting. The boys would use the metal chairs we borrowed from mom to eat at the island. Anything to get off the floor and away from Austin!

The table looks great. Thanks about the advice about the sponge rollers. I used a roller on our coffee and end tables because I was in a rush to get it done with. But I LOVE the look that it was hand painted much better. I'll have to do that with our kitchen table....it's just convincing Loren to let me paint it. He says the table "looks fine".

I like it....you have been busy!
When we had a house I loved to mow....Mark wouldn't let me....he thinks it makes him look like a loser making his wife mow. Silly men!

Looks awesome Mindy. We went without a table for about a week while we were painting ours. It was fun to eat on the floor for about 2 days and then it was a pain! I have never had regret over painting our table, I love it! And I love yours, it looks great!
