Anyone that has had a baby and nursed please advise! I just stopped nursing Austin and my hormones have been so out of wack. I've been very impatient with the boys, on the verge of tears over everything, stressing because of my gimp ankle and not being able to workout. My anxiety levels have peaked as well. I feel as though I can't get my thoughts arranged and some days even accomplish anything. I really don't like feeling so out of control. When I get emotional I can control it only so long and then BOOM! I lose it and I cry for quite some time. It just takes me a day or two to figure out how I'm really feeling and be able to voice them to Chris. I mainly want to be certain I don't say something mean to him when (most of the time) he hasn't done anything to hurt my feelings!
Is this a normal thing? Common sense tells me it is, but I just don't remember feeling like this after I stopped nursing with Cameron. I do need to go in once my milk is totally gone and get my prolactin levels checked. They were 4 times the norm a year after I had Cameron...hence no period that whole time either. Actually I kind of liked that part, but figured I'd better get it checked out.
So, let me know how this worked for you ladies!

I don't have any advice, but I wanted to tell you that I'm sorry you are having a hard time. Hopefully it will just be for a short time.
I don't remember going through that with Kathryn, but I nursed her for a year and by the end it was only twice a day anyway, so it was really gradual. Although, it's probably been gradual for you too.
I hope you can figure it out. I have been really irritable lately myself, but not too emotional.
I'm so sorry Mindy! I don't really have much advice either except that I can sympathize. I was okay when I stopped nursing Spencer for 1 1/2 months - and then I went crazy. Seriously, I have no idea what set me off and if it was in any way related to nursing or what. But everything made me cry (and it's REALLY hard to get me to cry!), I was mad at the world, and extremely tired. Talk about irritable! Gotta love those hormones. Hang in there! Take a long bubble bath and eat some chocolate. :) I hope you start feeling better soon!
Mindy, so sorry you don't feel good.
I have mojor anxiety attacks that are bought on my stress (I use to even use medication for them) but I have no idea on what and if stopping nursing can cause a swing like that. I would say if it lasts more than a week, I would call your Dr.
As for advice, try to relax, and do like Laura says and eat some chocolate.
Sorry I cant help. Your the one always giving me advice. But call me anytime you need to vent. When does Chris have a Saturday off? Up for going camping?
