Trip Down Memory Lane

Here's the scenario in 1995:
I'm part of the starting lineup for the first tournament of the season...first time as a starter. During the first game, I went up for a block along with the middle player. As we came down I stepped on her foot and rolled my ankle on the way to the floor. We were ahead and they came back to win the game. I was so bummed. I was out for most of the season until the last few weeks. It was a doozie of a sprain, too. It bruised up black, blue and purple and was the size of a softball.
Here is the scenario in 2007:
I am five months out of having a baby. I have been exercising and getting back to playing volleyball. A friend from high school (Rhonda) has been coming to play. Men and women get together on Tuesday and Thursday nights to play. Last night I was pumped to play in Allen with men/women that are really good. We started playing close to 9:30. I went up for a hit during the first or second game. As I came down I rolled my left ankle *CRACK*. The other players were able to find ice in the kitchen and tape it on my ankle. I almost forgot to mention that my hit was in the court boundaries and I got a sideout for my team. That makes it all worth it!!! I was able to walk to the truck. Of course the one time I drive Chris' truck (a standard) I hurt myself! But I drove on the back roads home and hobbled inside. Chris was so nice to run to the store to get me a few ice packs and cater to me. I got into the dr. this morning and had xrays done. It is not broken. WHEW! But now I have weeks of staying down and letting the ligaments heal. Here is the damage. It's not too colorful yet and not too swollen.
I'm extremely saddened that this happened. I'm hoping that it will heal within the month so I can get back to the activities that I enjoy.

You can tell a little difference between my ankles. (I just noticed the tan line on my feet from my flip flops already. Pull out the sunscreen)

That's why I don't play volleyball, among other reasons (like I just plain suck). I hope it heals soon. I feel for ya!!
