It's so hard to keep up with a growing family! As each Christmas arrives we've found ourselves with a need for another stocking. Since I don't have my own home yet and a big, full, pre-lit tree I'd like...I'm not going to go and buy nice stockings that won't end up matching later on. So, this year since Austin has come and I wanted to have all matching stockings I came up with this idea. I went to the Dollar General and bought these cheap $2 stockings, and 2/$1 picks with the greenery and decor. I pulled all of the items off of the picks and hot glued them to the stockings. I think they turned out pretty nice and not too cheap looking! It works for me for a few more years. We've enjoyed our $5 Christmas tree for this long. We bought it the year we were married. I thought I'd share in case anyone is in need of cheap ideas your holiday!

And here are a few attempts for a Christmas picture to send out with our cards. The first one Cameron was upset about something and was hiding behind the tree! Chris is so photogenic! Then the other one is the best one of Austin (sleeping) but it's off centered & Colin had better smiles in other shots. SO, we have Santa hats for all three boys, I thought I might just dress them up and snap their picture.

The stockings look so cute! I love it! And I can't believe you got a tree for $5! That's awesome. We almost went out and bought a new tree this year since the one we have some of the lights aren't working, but I think we'll try to make this one work this year and maybe next, then go spring for a new tree!
Oh, and if you want to sew stockings my mom has a pattern that she uses. She makes all of us stockings the year we get married and buys enough fabric so that when we have kids she can make matching ones.
What a great idea - they turned out so cute! I think I'm going to go tree shopping after Christmas to try and find a good deal, but I doubt I'll be able to do as well as you and your $5 tree! Hopefully there will still be some good ones left.
The stockings are very cute. Your family picture is really good too.
The stockings turned out great!
