Well, I think Austin has a bit of colic. The past two weeks or so have been kind of difficult come 6pm until about 1:30 or 2am. He is a gassy boy as it is during the day and at night it's even worse. So, in the evenings I'm not able to get much else done except hold him and comfort him. Chris and I still haven't really slept in the same bed yet because most nights I've slept on the couch with Austin or am not in bed that much. I just am amazed and grateful at how we mothers can survive and function on such little sleep. A few days in a row I got like 4 hours of sleep. The lack of sleep did catch up to me and I had to take a nap, but I was still able to get a lot done. I've gotten some good suggestions from my dr. as well as from a friend in my ward who's a massage therapist.
1. Put a warm 'bed buddy' under his belly when he's sleeping. YES, my kids sleep on their stomachs!2. The large intestine flows in a clockwise direction. So, massage the belly in a clockwise manner and at the same time massage the back in a counter clockwise direction.
So, maybe this info. will help someone out there dealing with colic and I'm sure there are many more articles on the subject.
Austin is sure changing fast. I'm excited to take him to the dr. on the 26th for his 2 month check up and see how much he weighs. He's got to be at least 13 pounds now. He is also smiling now but of course not long enough to snap a picture. Here is a picture of him last week playing with daddy...kind of smiling.

And I thought I'd try to get a cute picture of his naked self tonight. These are the best shots I got of him.
He actually was trying to eat the snowman at one point.

"I'm trying to get my head all the way up mom!"
"I can't do it anymore mommy."

He is SOOOOOOO cute!! I'm sorry you've had such rough nights. I have a hard time surviving on such little sleep, but it happens. And I will have to try your suggestions. I think Hannah is pretty gassy as well... and I'm so glad to hear you let your babies sleep on their tummies. I have been contemplating doing that.
I love his little chubby arms and cheeks!
Holy crap if your kids are that fat i am so scared to see how fat mine will be! HAHA Cameron is the only fatty now!!! I love it!
Correction...Cameron ISN'T the only fatty now...
Great pictures! He's getting big fast! 4 hours of sleep just won't cut it, girl! That really stinks. I hope those ideas have helped him (and you) get some sleep. He sure is a cute one, though!
I'm sorry you're not getting any sleep. I remember those days. I don't do well at all without any sleep. It will get better. Let me know if I can do anything to help. My friend's baby was the same way. She tried lots of things. i will have to ask her what worked.
Ash, yes I'm open for any suggestions! It has helped me get sleep to let him cry himself to sleep a few nights. It's getting better.
He is so cute!! I love the pictures! He is getting so big.
I LOOOOOOOOVE THESE PICTURES. The black and white ones are my favorites. I love the cute narration for the santa hat picture.
I put my kids to sleep on the stomach after they can lift their head, which is pretty early. Kiana was super gassy and putting her on her stomach to sleep seemed to push out gas from both ends that I couldn't burp out of her and then she'd stop fussing and sleep right away. I'll have to remember those tips for our next one!
One more thing that helped me with Kiana:
I put her on her back and pedaled her feet like she was riding a bike. (It wiggles all the gas up). Then I'd straighten her legs out for a few seconds and pump both of them back in towards her stomach once so her knees were touching her tummy. Then I'd wiggle a little and that seemed to help us. I'd do a couple cycles of this.
Hope that might help!
